Having recently read ‘Crossing to Avalon’ by Jean Shinoda Bolen http://www.jeanshinodabolen.com/ (Personal account of pilgrimage to sacred sites, commentary and reflections upon my own spiritual journey, midlife, and goddess spirituality as embodied experience of divinity, which differs from transcendent experiences of god; midlife, individuation, quest for meaning. Grail legend, Handless maiden: archetypal patterns), and recogniszing patterns in my own world that are changing, I have been inspired to make some more goddess beads! The last series that I made were for http://www.goddessgifts.com.au/ a few years ago, but it has been an enjoyable journey!

Kimmyg 🙂
Could not resist posting this quote!
Life is a train of moods like a string of beads; and as we pass through them they prove to be many colored lenses, which paint the world their own hue, and each shows us only what lies in its own focus. — Ralph Waldo Emerson
Penel

BEAD MAKING COURSES AND TUITION – YANDINA FLAMEWORKING STUDIO NOW OPEN!

Kimmyg is proud to announce that a new, dedicated flameworking studio has been opened at Yandina on the Sunshine Coast. The studio is purpose built, air-conditioned and is the perfect venue for you to learn the ancient technique of lampworking. Currently tuition is by arrangement and can be tailored to your needs. Whether you are a complete novice or wishing to extend your skills, the team at Yandina are ready to accommodate you! The new studio is situated in Pioneer Road, near the popular Ginger Factory and runs alongside the hot glass studio where internationally recognised and admired artists Stanislav Melis, Tina Cooper, Lucas Salton, Noel Hart, Jonathon Westacott and Greg Royer also work.
Kimmyg will be teaching glass beadmaking, lampworking (or flameworking, as it is otherwise known) classes by arrangement. For further details of all classes go to ‘Teaching’. Classes can be booked to suit your personal timetable and skill level.
In addition to basic courses at beginner, next step and intermediate levels, Kimmyg is offering short courses to extend your skills in Murrini making, Twisties Stringer and Complex Canes, and Using Presses. Maximum class size will be eight and classes are held at the Sunshine Coast Hot Glass Studio in Yandina, on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Class fees include use of all equipment and glass.
Susan’s world has always included art and creativity. As a home schooling Mum, with a menagerie of animals in her care, it is a wonder she has time for anything, but her passion for flameworking, first ignited in 2006, now represents an important part of her life.

Jenni’s new galleries feature some of her fabulous jewellery designs using feature beads often sourced from the NCBM site as well as other great components like Vintaj Brass! Jenni describes her ‘Mindil Series’ thus ….
“Mindil Beach in Darwin is well visited by locals and tourists from April-October, our Dry Season, each year. Night markets are convened here twice weekly during The Dry, with vendors offering a range of beautiful art/craft items, more multicultural food than the Russian army could eat and interesting and enjoyable entertainment. As dark approaches, the most glorious colours can be seen in the sky. After dark, the celestial display of stars is outstanding. When I saw Bev Butler’s Ying Yang beads, I was reminded of these wonderful colours of nature. Hence, the Mindil Series was created”
